HOW DO I GET MY SECURITY LICENSE?

To become a licensed security guard in the state of Texas, you must first complete the Level II Training Course and Test. All commissioned and non-commissioned (armed and unarmed) security officers must go through this training. The training must be taken at a licensed school like South Texas Security Academy and taught by a Licensed Instructor.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Private Security Program regulates the private security profession in Texas. This includes armed and unarmed security guards, personal protection officers, private investigators, alarm systems installers and monitors, armored car couriers, electronic access control device installers, and locksmiths.

South Texas Security Academy is licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Private Security Program as a Class F and Class Y Training School.

Only those courses offered here and for which you receive a certificate with the Class F or Class Y designation shown are eligible for submission to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Private Security Program at this time.
